Hi,

I am installing the SME 5.6 as a Server and Gateway and I am trying to find my server on the Internet using the nslookup command (I fist conected my pc to the internet thru a Dial-up connection) and I get a time out response. I can ping the server, it works fine but aparently the external DNS wont respond indicating witch servers is he hosting. Works fine when conected to the LAN.

Can someone help me with some advise?

Thanks

A few background first:
* DNS convert NAMES (www.yourdomain.com) to numbers (20.x.x.x).
* So FAR I KNOW , SME do not have (out from box) a PUBLIC DNS on it (so you cannot say at your registrar that your DNS will be your SME server.

There is a addon for SME (look at contribs.org) that do this... I heven´t tried!

                                Be carefull!

You can use a public (and FREE) Dynamic DNS (if this is your case). I use www.zoneedit.com ! It´s wonderful! give it a try!

See you!
