SIP through/with SME Server

Hello,

Does anyone have any knowledge about SIP through/with SME Server. I tried to use MSN Messenger (4.6) as instructed through my telephony company. That failed, bacause MSN Messenger uses all these ports (i have been told).

The telephony company said i could set the server to send all traffic it doesn't handle to my laptop. They said it is calld DMZ or similar, depending on manufacturer. How to do?

Is there any other way to let the SME talk SIP. As i have noticed, there are many ways of takling SIP. From the telephony company i have a phone number (a standard landline number from the PSTN), a password and their proxy servers IP 212.112.47.147. Calling the number +46 8 505 684 00 from my cellphone only generates beeps.

SME Server is V. 5.5, the ISP is Bostream, ADSL 2.5 Mbit, telephone company is Digisip, all in Sweden. Maybe you need more information.

Hope someone has ideas.

Ian

Hi
I dont think your problem will be the SME server. I use Free world Dial and the Xlite softphone with no problems. via an ISDN dial up.
