Beta 6.3 ISO not working
« on: August 09, 2003, 12:49:35 PM »
I downloaded the latest ISO ver 6 beta 3 off the FTP server and HTTP just to double check and the CD won't boot when I burnt it.  It says it has an error in the config file and prompt me to enter something at a "boot:" prompt.

Does anyone else have this problem?  Is there a solution to type to boot the cdrom to install the newest version from the "boot:" prompt?

thanks,
Curtis =)

PS... ver 5.6 works great.... but I wanted to do a clean install on ver 6 beta 3 and can't get the cd to boot and run the install...

Hi

I too have had problems with the ISO.

I downloaded it 3 times (from 3 different mirrors) and each time when I burn the ISO to disk all I get is an empty folder and 5 empty files with lots of

????????????????????????????????????????????
??????????????????????????????????

I burnt the disks on good quality media at 2x speed as well.

Did you check the md5sum of the image you downloaded?

I hear you... I'm not too sure why... I've checked everything and it all looks good but doesn't work.  The 5.6 ISO is perfect... but not 6.3

Hi

Well mine checked out aganst the md5sum but I did try another attempt at downloading it and it worked this time. Why the other attempts at downloads failed I do not know. Just glad I have broadband!

You might try a download manager such as GetRight ... I paid $20 for it years ago and have been well satisfied.  Just don't use one of the ones that infest your PC with spyware.  I've downloaded dozens of Linux and other ISOs, plus other large files, with seldom a problem.

I had problems last week with the 6.0b3 ISO on a Dell PowerEdge 2600.
I downloaded the ISO twice and burned it with several different brands of CD's on different burners.  The CD's would boot and run on other PC's in the office.  I finally installed 6.0b2 and upgraded it to b3.

I still don't know what the problem was, but I have another PE2600 that I will try the install on later this week to see if the problem still exists..
