access Permissions in IBAY
« on: August 30, 2003, 11:29:22 AM »
Hello all,

THis is an interesting one (for me anyway), I have installed a second hdd onto the ibays dir, (moved out all the files and mounted the new hdd, restarted and then moved all the files back again) then, when that was working, about a week later i created another ibay called music, (this is inside the new 40gb hdd) I succssfully mounted andother 20 gb hdd onto that ibay.

Now the problem is that i can not write anything to the new 20gb HHD in the music Ibay. Execpt a folder that the format made called lost and found. inside that i can do what ever i want.
I have checked all the permissions on the server manager pannell and it is available to everyone no password.

But  when i try and write to it, it just says access denied.

This is proberly just a chmod to somthing to give the right permission but i am not sure what.

any help would be great.

im not very good yet at trouble shooting sme servers but i thinks there are 2 posible answers for that:

1.) recheck your /etc/fstab. you might have missed something there or what...

2.) try mounting it to a diffent mounting point.

cheers!

Thanks for responding, but the FSTAB is ok because it mounts every time and is accessable but the write permissions are all screwed up.

Any other ideas????

I always get this when adding a new ibay and/or drive etc.
Found that toggling the normal (intra-net only) user value...
in the server-manager | information bays for

(from) write=group read=group
(to) write=group read=everyone
(and back to) write=group read=group
...allows access permissions normality to return.
Don't know why, I just know I have to do it - one time.

best wishes, Robert
