Hostnames not work after Changed IP
« on: September 02, 2003, 12:30:37 AM »
Hi,

I changed my server ip-adress from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.65.1 to use VPN.
After that all hostnames like ftp.mydomain.de, mail.mydomain.de ping results "unknown host".

When I create a new virtual domain test.mydomain.de the hostnames like "ftp.test.mydomain.de" work ok.

I read the forum but can´t find a solution. Later I changed the server ip back to 192.168.0.1. Same Problem. I changed the ip-adress in the admin-panel.

What can I do?

Did you update the info in the hostnames settings as well as the IP address?

Hi

I suppose we ought to also ask if he is using DHCP as I think that should supply the hosts with all the correct info they need should'nt it?

Hi,

Yes. I use DHCP. The only thing i did is going to the "configuring this server"-menu and changed the ip-adress. I didn´t change hostnames or anything else. And as I sayed: later I changed back to my old ip-adress.

Also I can´t ping to client workstations name. When I use the IP it´s ok.
