I configured SME 5.6 on a optus cable account by using the CO-XXXXXXXX-a number which use to be issued by optus, which is still working.

I am trying to set another person up but Optus does not use this system anymore.
When connecting via windows all you need to do is set the card to dhcp and it just connects, no software, no username or password.
I have tried the other option which is 'send ethernet address as client identifier' but still no go.

If I go to reveiw configuration in server manager I see the external card as having a 192.168.65.1 address, which is not the same range as the internal ip range and nor should it be but it isn't picking up an address from Optus either.

Any ideas welcome.

When configuring you server, in the

"External Interface Configuration" screen

choose option 2 Use DHCP (send ethernet address as client identifier)

and reboot server.

I've been using this setting without any problems for 2 years
