6.0b3 install on DELL Latitude CPiA and 3Com 3CCFE575BT-D NI

Hi,

I am trying to resurrect some old hardware (Latitude CPiA) to run the 6.0b3 version of SME Server.

The Latitude CPiA has a single bay with swappable CD-ROM and Floppy.

After booting from CD-ROM I skip the request to provide a floppy PCMCIA driver as I can't 'hot swap' to the floppy. (I assume that the driver is only required at this point to support network installs?)

The CD-ROM install completes successfully, but during the network configuration stage the card is not detected automatically, and when I choose the nearest driver (3c575) and reboot the network lights (10/100) remain dark and the 'test internet connection' option fails.

Please can you advise me on how to enable this card.

Thanks,
Peter (linux newbie).

Sorted it, all i done was download ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/8.0/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/kernel-pcmcia-cs-3.1.31-9.i386.rpm

put it onto cd

mounted the cd rom

installed by using this http://www.e-smith.org/docs/howto/contrib/e-smith-pcmcia-howto-0.1-01.txt

read through it but use the above rpm pak instead then type in that command:

"ln -s /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia /etc/rc.d/rc7.d/S45pcmcia" very important u put a capital S before the 45pcmcia or it won't work

to link the pcmcia to the startup process and hey presto it worked.

Hope this helps anyone else
