sme as just a router between subnets

Hey everyone, can someone point me into the right direction for taking a SME 5.6 box and making it a router between 2 subnets on the same lan. I want to segment the network to keep large image files from our radiology department off of the hospital lan. right now I'm in server-gateway mode.

From the SME server I can ping both subnets, but I can't ping accross the subnets in either direction.

I'm on 10.143.0.77 (255.255.254.0)  and the Radiology network is 10.143.15.xxx (255.255.255.0)

SME server= Lan side 10.143.0.7 (255.255.254.0)
                    Radiology side 10.143.15.254 (255.255.255.0)

I add 10.143.15.xxx to local networks in the Server manager. I try to put 10.143.15.254 for the gateway and can't because the server (lan side) doesn't see that network yet. I can put 10.143.0.7 as a gateway and it excepts it but I can't ping 10.143.15.xxx from the server anymore. Can't find it's way back anymore!

My question is how do I go about and do this, Or would it be easier to change to server only mode and add a second nic to the server. All I need to do is route between the 2 subnets. No firewalling etc...

Thanks
