dead squid?
« on: October 11, 2003, 09:53:39 AM »
Hi problems on a 5.5U6 server. Can pptp and putty but cant use server-manager.
httpd-admin is running but not squid. Restarting squid says OK but it doesn't run. When I try and MC I get
[root@anvilfw root]# mc
bash: /root/.mc/tmp/mc-8917: No space left on device
cat: /root/.mc/tmp/mc-8917: No such file or directory
/bin/rm: cannot remove /root/.mc/tmp/mc-8917': No such file or directory

df gives
[root@anvilfw root]# df
Filesystem           1k-blocks      Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda6             17774160   1765700  15118060  11% /
/dev/hda1                77750      2639     71097   4% /boot

Help please - dont know what to try next. Am hoping to fix this remotely.
Regards
Brian

OK - have managed to get squid & MC to start by deleting 20 or 30 files. However, disk is nowhere near full. Searching forums seems to show this problem has appeared before without a satisfactory reply. Is there some sort of limit to number of files on an SME server? This one does not have many users or ibays and not heaps of user files. I am worried this will happen again. Can I delete some of the /dev files - there seem to be heaps.
