Here is the Scenario:
SME 6.03b Sever (in Server only mode) acting as domain controller
1 WIN2k & 4 WINXP clients all logging into SME domain controller
A software application (Called Winforms 2000
www.winforms.com) with a network install program.
In order to work, this program requires you to install the software to a shared Local network location on any of the windows shares. Then the clients access the client-install program from that same share location to install the clients. There must be access to the shares in order to work.
The big issue is that when running the client-install program it needs to have access to the registry over the LAN in order to make registry changes. This is not an issue on the WIN2k machine. The WINXP machine does not allow access to the registry files accross the LAN so the installation cannot finish. This only happens while logged into the domain controller. This does not happen while logged in as Administrator on the PC's local account (not logged onto the domain).
Is there a setting to be made in Samba allowing all Xp clients some sort of superuser access, or does this seem to be a WINXP feature??
Currently the clients must log out of the domain controller and log into their local account to access the LAN share and they are not HaPpY!
Somebody please hep me!
