Help with Raid Monitor
« on: November 10, 2003, 09:38:40 PM »
Hi All,
I have just installed Darrell May's Raid Monitor rpm and when I run:
[root@linux-server root]# raidmonitor -v
I get:
ALARM!   RAID   configuration   problem

Current   configuration   is:

Personalities   :   [raid1]
read_ahead   1024   sectors
md2   :   active   raid1   hda3[0]   hdc3[1]
264512   blocks   [2/2]   [UU]

md1   :   active   raid1   hda2[0]   hdc2[1]
59678528   blocks   [2/2]   [UU]
[====>................]   resync   =   23.2%   (13845540/59678528)   finish=197.5mi
n   speed=3867K/sec
md0   :   active   raid1   hda1[0]   hdc1[1]
104320   blocks   [2/2]   [UU]

unused   devices:

Last   known   good   configuration   was:

Personalities   :   [raid1]
read_ahead   1024   sectors
md2   :   active   raid1   hda3[0]   hdc3[1]
264512   blocks   [2/2]   [UU]

md1   :   active   raid1   hda2[0]   hdc2[1]
59678528   blocks   [2/2]   [UU]
[====>................]   resync   =   20.0%   (11949176/59678528)   finish=204.4mi
n   speed=3889K/sec
md0   :   active   raid1   hda1[0]   hdc1[1]
104320   blocks   [2/2]   [UU]

unused   devices:

Any ideas what is wrong? Any help is appreciated.

You ran raidmonitor -iv too early, while the array was still resyncing.  Wait until it's finished, then run it again.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for the quick response, I am a bit confused over whether I should run
raidmonitor -iv or raidmonitor -v
Also do you have any tips on guessing when it has finished resynching! I've managed to catch it during resync 5 out of 5 times! (If only I could somehow use this to choose my Florida lotto #'s!!). Thanks again for your help.

Regards,
Del

PS Congrats on a great site (www.familybrown.org)

"Ray"?  It should be done in a little over 3 hours from your first post in thread, based on the "finish=197.5mi" in the note.  You can use 'cat /proc/mdstat' to verify that it's done before running the raidmonitor -iv again.
