I believe this is done only whenever your IP changes.

It appears that when the ip address is changed it is not sending the info. When I go to the yi.org script and run it by hand the changes go into affect within mins. Does anyone know were the script is to send the ipaddress to yi.org when it changes?

Thanks

The script which is run when your IP address changes is:

/sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/yi

You could try calling it from a shell prompt - you need to call it thus:

/sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/yi x.x.x.x 'yi-userid' 'yi-password'

And you should look in /var/log/messages for any error messages from that script as well.

I have tried calling the script from /sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/yi.org and it works. The main question is how does it know when the ip address changes that it needs to send the info to yi.org

You need to call the yi.org update script at the end of /etc/ppp/ip-up.local
And don't forget to add it to the template (/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/ppp/ip-up.local
/signal-event)
