RAID 1 problem

Hi to all!
I have a problem with one of my raid hd's.
The "raidmonitor" shows this:

ALARM! RAID configuration problem

Current configuration is:

Personalities : [raid1]
read_ahead 1024 sectors
md2 : active raid1 sda1[0] 264960 blocks [2/1] [U_]
md0 : active raid1 sdb5[1] sda5[0] 15936 blocks [2/2] [UU]
md1 : active raid1 sdb6[1] sda6[0] 17655296 blocks [2/2] [UU]
unused devices:

Last known good configuration was:

Personalities : [raid1]
read_ahead 1024 sectors
md2 : active raid1 sdb1[1](F) sda1[0] 264960 blocks [2/1] [U_]
md0 : active raid1 sdb5[1] sda5[0] 15936 blocks [2/2] [UU]
md1 : active raid1 sdb6[1] sda6[0] 17655296 blocks [2/2] [UU]
unused devices:

I have read many docs and many posts in this forum and I don't find the correct or the working solution to my problem.

I have tried many suggestions, but, all without success. The sync doesn't work.

Anyone can help me?

Paul

Have you considered that sdb1 has failed (eg: bad sectors or tracks)?

I had the same problem so I wiped out my second drive and re-sync everything.  It would work for a couple of days and then the error would re-occur.  I tried it twice.  I had to replace my hdc drive.  Now all has been fine for over a year.

If you have tried resyncing without success then your disk is almost certainly duff. Buy a new disk pronto and follow Darrell Mays excellent Raid Recovery howto :

http://wiki.contribs.org/index.php?module=article&view=10&MMN_position=33:33

One point to make sure - DO follow the last few lines to ensure that lilo is correctly installed on both disks, and that either one will boot. I made that mistake the first time round, didn't check, and when the first drive fell over, I had a hard time getting the system up again.

Best regards,

John
