Installation problem - SCSI controller

Hi Folks,

I'm having trouble installing 6.0 final. I want to use an Adaptec 29320-R card with a pair of Maxtor 36Gb drives.

I don't mind using software mirroring or the host based mirroring on this card.

The card isn't detected on a CD boot so I get a "Warning - No Hard Drives have been found....Would you like to select drivers now?" screen, you select "Yes" and fet a one-liner "Running anaconda - please wait..." (it doesn't access the floppy made from drvblock.img) then it goes on to the next screen of Language Selection, then Keyboard Selection, then EULA, accepting the EULA gives you a "No Drives Found" only choice is "OK" which reboots.

If I boot from a floppy created from boot.img I get the same thing, it asks for the CD, then asks to look for drivers etc.

modinfo on the drvblock floppy lists aacraid which is the module I'm expecting to use.

I've had a good look through the 6.0 user manual, I've even looked at 5.6 and 5.5 to see if it lists how to access the drivers on a second floppy, but no luck.

Now I'm pretty sure it is me that is doing something dumb, but your guidance would be appreciated.

Many thanks

John W Curtin

see http://www.jeffborders.com/techdocs/aic79xx.txt

.. you MUST turn off the hostraid!

There are drivers on Adaptecs' site but the kernel drivers should work fine.

Cheers for the link, however I don't get chance to load the modules from the floppy I created using the drvblock.img in the images directory on the cd.

I'd tried it without the hostraid initially, then tried with, and again without. No change.

My main problem is how to load these drivers. The ones that are in the drvblock.img include aacraid, that *should* work OK, but until I find out why it is not asking for a source for the drivers it won't load any.

There is nowhere in the manual (that I can see) that says if you want to load additional drivers do XYZ.

Thanks again,
