I have searched an not found this serino addressed.

I am trying to access a SME 6.03 server using pptp. I have pptp enabled for user "me". The server and my network are the same workgroup name. The server is on subnet 192.168.1.xxx. They are connected to the internet via SBC DSL, and I am using dyndsn.org to resolve the IP.

My Windooz 98SE machine is behind a SME 5.6U4 server.
workgroup same as system above
subnet 192.168.3.xxx
I am connected via cable modem.

I can vpn into other servers I have set up using SME 5.6U4, JUst not this one. I can ssh in using putty, so I know that the ip is being resolved properly. I have looked at the logs, and they did not make a lot of sence to me.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look and what to look for

an update to the vpn problem.

It appears to be happening only from my system. I just tried it from a friends computer that is using a dial up connection, and I got in without a problem. Now to try to discern what the difference could be

Tried searching, and did not see anything like what I am fighting.

If I could not vpn into any remote location, I could see where I could be having trouble with my client software. But I can vpn into 4 other servers (5.6U4) without a hitch. It appears that something is not allowing the connection between my network and the remote network. I tried to vpn from a different client on my local station to the troubling remote server, and it comes up with the same error.

I see where it says that GRE protocol is not available, but is it refering to my end or the server, and what can I do about it.
