Why the email account at SME server cannot receive mail?

why my email account at the SME server cannot receive the mail? Its can sent the email only?

1- make sure you have the name servers properly configured where you registered your domain name
2- if you have dynamic ip, make sure you have a dynamic dns service like TZO, or NO IP running on a local machine, and that the name servers and mx records are pointing to the servers of the dynamis dns service that you choose.
3- Make sure your mx records are pointing where you want your e-mails to go.

In fact I'm having maybe the same problem:

yck: try the testmail test  at dnsreport.com then you can see if you are accepting e-mail.
Testmail uses the parent DNS.
If that is ok (you receive the test e-mail in your account) then your MX records will need a couple of days to be copied in all DNS-mirrors.

My problem:
My local accounts can send e-mail locally and globally.
My local accounts can receive e-mail locally (both IMAP and POP).
My local accounts don't receive global e-mail (neither IMAP nor POP).

But the q-mail log says (and the dnsreport:testmail  reports success):

2003-12-23 16:37:25.558305500 smtpfront-qmail[2897]: RCPT TO:
2003-12-23 16:37:25.726531500 smtpfront-qmail[2897]: bytes in: 118 bytes out: 118

It looks like that the e-mails are vanishing internally somewhere!?

Being a newbie to SME (that doesn't mean I'm completely stupid), does someone have a clue?

Before you ask that I should have posted all my configs: I had one bad experience too many with that, but I'm happy to post some parts of it.

Sorry,

I could have known it myself (actually I mentioned it already in my reply).
It was the MX changes not copied yet to the DNS mirrors on the internet (it now starts to work, app. 23 hours after the change).

I was put on the wrong leg by the dnsreport testmail facility: that doesn't send an e-mail it only test the e-mail interface. There should have been also an "Accepted message ...." line in the smtpfront-qmail log. Missed that one.

Meanwhile found an e-mail test at zoneedit that does a better job.
