I have done some testing, and a lot of digging, but I can not receive mail locally. I can receive email from my ISP. My temporary domain is srdpc.lan, and when I set up the account in outlook express, I use my username, password, mail.srdpc.lan for both pop3 and smtp. It reports that the host can not be found.
I know that there is mail in my mailbox on the server, because I can access it with webmail ( but not using the domain name. I have to address it by ip) The mail got there when I was running some tests with a domain name of srdpc.com ( which i have hosted on a rented hosting service for now)

I am running SME 6.0 final, clam with amavis, and trying to install the dungog antivirus contrib.

Looking for any ideas, as I want to go live with the server arround the end of the month and want to make sure everything works

Thanks

I don't know why, but after I post a question, I discover the answer. The problem was in my tcp/ip settings. I use static ip addresses, and forgot to include the SME server in the list of dns address search. Sorry for jumping too soon
