Topic: commandline from a remote connection

Hi, is it possible to obtain a commandline or a kind of commandpromt in the same way as if I log on as the user root direct on the SME 6.0, from a remote connection?

If so, how do I do it?

Hi - enable remote access PPTP in server-manager. Create a VPN connection to your SME and use putty to the internal address of your SME server. Login as root gives command line. Post if you need more details.

Is where need for double encryption (VPN and SSH)?
Just enable ssh access via server-manager and login with SSH (PuTTY) directly.

Vpn does not work on my network. Don't knw why. Putty as ssh client works very easily.

Hi again – thanks for the answers, I’ve have a follow up problem. Is it possible (in a simple way) to check if the firewall from my site is setup to allow SSH traffic to the SME server?

I don’t control the firewall and I can’t get putty to work, so I was wondering if it could be a firewall issue!

Yes, you can use an online portscanner. It's a lot of them. This will give you a check if the ssh port can be seen from the internet.
