Cannot add a specific user after deleting it

Hi,

I recently experienced a starnge scenario where 2 users was constantly being asked to key in the password when he pop his mail account. I have reset the password for both and it did not work. They, however , are able to access the webmail using the same password.

Nonetheless, I have deleted both accounts and the problem was solved for 1 user while the second user could not be added as it keep saying
"Error: the account "ashford" can't be created because there is already a user-deleted account of that name."

when the account is no longer in the list of active accounts.

I am using SME 5.5 and there is only one domain in this server.

Could somebody please enlighten me.

It is known bug for version 5.5
Please search this forum for deleted user account and find many posts with the solution available.

Had the same problem at v 5.6 Did not find the anwer so far ..

/sbin/e-smith/db accounts delete username

where username is the name of the deleted user :-)
