Ibay as site again

Funny, my ibay works fine from th Internet as a site when you surf to it with the address http://212.209.xxx.xxx/myibay (my static IP address), but not when my domain name http://www.mydomain.com/myibay is used as address. This address brings up the "no such page on URL" massage. http://Http://www.mysite.com (without /myibay) brings me properly to my primary/index.html. I still don´t understand why there is a problem reaching my ibay index.html files the proper way.

It sometimes takes a few days - even a week - for your registered domain name to work correctly. Please talk to your isp - or whoever is doing the DNS for you.

Well, as there is no problem with www.mydomain.com, I guess there couldn´t be a DNS problem, and I have had the domain registered for a couple of months now. I think I have everything in order here... what beats me is the fact that you can´t surf to the ibay sites... aren´t you supposed to put the ibay name like www.mydomain.com/myibay , with the ibay index.html in the html directory, to make e-smith direct the "surfing visitor" to the ibay "site"? I do all of that... why does it only work with the http://url.ipa.ddr.ess/myibay ? The way it is now I have to have links on my Primary homesite with the http://url.ipa.ddr.ess/myibay so people can reach the ibays.

Sorry for nagging on with this question, but it´s frustrating not to know why I don´t manage to make it work according to the e-smith conventions.

Lars,
I am completely in the dark on this one. Everything should work as you said.
Is it only a problem with Ibays? Is your www.mydomain.com working?

I am sending you a link to my site under development. Please take a peek.

The symptoms your describe indicate that the domain name you are using doesn't match any that the e-smith box recognises as its own address. Look through /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and you will see a set of Aliases which refer to your ibay - these aliases are only valid for the IP addresses and domain names listed.

Charlie

I´ll check that. But as my e-smith works wonderfully as a dedicated e-mail server by MX-records, accepting all e-mail addresses like username@mydomain.com, e-smith really recognises "mydomain.com", right?

I might have had a similar problem a while ago, don't remember the details, but was something similar to what you described.

What I ended up doing, per Charlie Brady (I think), was changing outside ethernet port address to a static address, rather than letting DHCP from my provider assign the address, worked fine.  Then later I switched it back to DHCP, as my provider won't promise the same ip, though it hasn't changed for two years.

Don't know if it will help, but it worked for my address resolution after I setup my own domain name.
