SpamAssassin and Mail Delegation
« on: January 09, 2004, 07:05:47 PM »
I see that under 6.0 Final, that SpamAssassin is installed by default.

Can SA be used with the Mail Delegation feature of SME? It would be good if it could just had the Spam rating to the header of the message and then I can let Outlook handle the Spam removal with a rule.

Thanks,

Hi Robert,

1
I installed following packages on SME 6.0 final:

Userpanel: e-smith-userpanel-1.6.0-2.noarch.rpm
SpamAssassin: http://sme.swerts-knudsen.dk/
Fetchmail: http://sme.swerts-knudsen.dk/
Hotwayd: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=9338.msg35608#msg35608

2a
Optional:
I get internal mail by the standard qmail package into my IMAP folders
The fetchmail package gets per user each 5 minutes messages from:
- External POP3 accounts
- Hotmail accounts using the Hotwayd package

2b
Mail processing:
Spamassasin filters all this mail

The userpanel is to set up procmail rules per user which also allows you to put the spam-tagged messages in a seperate folder.
I don't use the rule-mechanism of outlook anymore.

Works like a train!
Now I get all those scattered E-mail accounts together in only one IMAP account.
Outlook express now needs only 3 seconds to load my e-mail in stead of 1.5 minutes.
