I'm new to this Linux server, just wondering if it is possible to run asp on the webserver

Yes, and I have done it. You may use SunOne Active Server Pages (formerly Chilisoft ASP). If used for development purposes only you may receive a free license from Sun.

When installing it may be necessary to tweak the installation to work with your version of Apache.

Hi,
Be aware of that you cannot use an Access database on other OS than IIS.

Gre you can use an Access database with Sun ASP. Sun ASP supports an ODBC connector to the following database formats:
Oracle, Sybase, DB2, Informix, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, dBASE, and PostgreSQL

No problem, it's been some time since I played with Sun ASP, but I do seem to recall that they didn't support an Access ODBC when it was Chilisoft, evidently their new version does.
