Announce - New contribs.org site

Please forgive the cross-post but we are trying to reach as many people as possible with this announcement.

There have been many questions about the future of the Mitel/e-smith distro and contribs.org.

Since December, we have had a truly international team of volunteers who have put literally hundreds of hours into creating a completely new site for contribs.org.  The new contribs is far more integrated and a single search for a topic will give you results in the Forums, Weblinks, News, and all of the other sections of the site.

We have a new, more polished look and feel and there is a great deal more information on the site as well.  We have almost completed our first language translation for the site documentation (French) and there is a lot more work going on right at this moment.

We will bring the new site live before the end of January and I am very sure that you will see great improvement in all areas.

Another international group of volunteers has been working on building our ISO release!    While we all know it's not a great idea to announce release dates, we feel confident in saying we are no more than a few weeks away from releasing the first community sponsored release of the SME Server.

I know many of you have quite a few questions that haven't been answered but I am hopeful and positive that we will be addressing many of these questions at launch.

Please hang in there with us for just a little while longer and we think you'll be pleased.

Thanks,

-jeff

You *will* be forgiven for running late, so don't fear making announcements like this. The fact that you have a plan, and have been executing it successfuly, is very reassuring.

Thankyou for keeping us lurkers informed :-)

And thankyou (and those nameless contributors) for the hard work you are putting into this effort to get the project back on track to a rewarding future.
