ip masquerading & performances??
« on: September 16, 2000, 08:33:01 PM »
Hello,

I've just installed the e-smith distribution on a P90 with 64Mb RAM. There's only one workstation connected to that gateway for now and the bandwidth has been divided by 8 or something like that.
When I had a direct connection from my workstation to the internet the maximum speed was about 320Kbps whereas now it is about 40.
Can anyone tell me if there is a simple way to improve those performances?
Thank you.

do you have the workstations proxy set to the e-smith?  If so rather change the network to dhcp and let the worstation go straight thru without hitting the proxy(squid) in e-smith.

If you have already setup this way, then I would guess that something is wrong with one of your network card,
or the pci bus or one one of the card is conflicting with something else in the machine.
