Detailed RPM Listing

Is it possible to get a complete listing of the RPM's used to build e-smith?  Even better would be having them broken down in subcatagories showing which set is responsible for what service (for example - Email server consists of... WWW consists of...).

My motivation for this list is the desire to customize a small sever to a task and strip away the uneeded items.  For example if I wanted just a file server, Samba would just about suffice and I could do away with the email, web server etc., or if I just wanted a print server I could pair it down to just that task.

I could also see this developing into a custom kickstart file for each type, which if I developed I would be happy to share.  At the very least, I could publish a "How-To" on stripping e-smith down to a specific task.

The next version of the e-smith software (which will be entering beta test during December) includes a status property for each service in the configuration database. This allows each service to be enabled or disabled. In this release, there will only be command line access to those properties in the database - a future version will include a page in the web management interface for enabling/disabling services.

The commands to enable/disable services will be suitable for inclusion in a custom kickstart file.

That would be a welcome contribution.

Will the new version have the RPM list available?  I not only want to disable the service, but remove it to save whatever disk space I can.  I know its not much per RPM, but sometimes a little bit makes a big differance when trying to set up a minimal server.
