Do I need to upgrade these files?

Hi Brandon. I've been using Taper 6.9b-3 (assume you mean the same) with a Seagate STT220000A 20GB ide tape drive and do not receive any errors. When/where do you receive the errors and what errors occur?
Regards,
Darrell

We are using a HP 4/8 SCSI tape drive - I run an unattended backup everyday, but what happens is that on certain directories find an error in the log file:
'w:write child segmentation fault', I check the taper website and it says that I need to upgrade or downgrade the c libraries?

I checked the Taper web site and see that it mentions problems with versions 5.4.38 and 5.4.44 of the c libraries. I personally don't know how to tell the version of c loaded as the filename is simply libc.so.5. [Maybe someone can help with explaining how to determine this] It mentions to try version 6.0 which is found in glibc-2*.rpm available from www.rpmfind.net. I'm currently testing e-smith 4.1B2 which includes the latest libraries and Taper works fine however previously I had a plain e-smith 4.0 install and Taper worked ok there to.
Hope this helps,
Darrell

Brandon, if you are using the RPMs from my contrib area then taper is built to use glibc6, so you don't need any libc5.
