Title: pptp 4.1b2
Post by: Karl Ponsonby on January 09, 2001, 08:56:53 AM
I've installed 4.1beta2 and everything works fine at this stage, except for the pptp server. I don't know what the prorper settings are but i have left the MS connection as standard except for IP connection. When i try to connect it replys and tells me that it will not accept a connection. I have only one NIC and am portforwarding from the firewall. Does it need to have two cards and be directly connect to the net?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks   Karl

If you go to the 4.1beta2 announcement, here:

http://www.e-smith.org/article.php3&mode=threaded&order=0

you'll find a couple of relevant sentences:

We do not guarantee that anything at all works.
 ...
Please report any feedback ... to the e-smith developers mailing  list, devinfo@lists.e-smith.org.

If you follow the link at the bottom of the page to the "known issues" page, you'll see that the pptp server is known not to work correctly.

Thank you for helping with our beta test program.

Regards

Charlie

Thanks, I've now figured out how to allow access withonly one network card, but how do you assign whocan dial in to the system. I've tried several user accounts, but the server replies that the passwd is incorrect. I've had a look at the templates and it says "dialinuseraccount" and "dialupuserpassword". Any idea where these variable are kept. Thanks again Karl
