Title: Problem with diald and base updates 35 and 36
Post by: Michael Ray on October 17, 2000, 02:08:29 PM
Problem with diald and e-smith base updates 35 and 36.

I have had a problem with diald disappearing from init.d when I install updates e-smith-base-4.0.12-35.noarch.rpm or e-smith-base-4.0.12-36.noarch.rpm.
The S57diald link is still in rc7.d, the diald package is still installed and /home/e-smith/configuration still has AccessType=dialup.
I can re-install diald or re-create the file but  /sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save will remove it again.

If I'm not doing something wrong, Is there a fix for this,  or am I lucky enough to be the only person affected ?

There are no updates 35 and 36.

If you are referring to the RPMs in my contrib directory, then these are beta modules which should only be used if you are on the developers mailing list. If you are on that list, you should report the problems on that list.

As a workaround you can remove the zero sized template-begin and template-end file in /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/ppp/*ap-secrets/, then run "/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save".

I'm putting a new RPM together soon, and will announce it on the developers mailing list when I am done.
