Title: Urgent - Server crashing!!!!
Post by: Brandon Friedman on January 19, 2001, 04:13:50 PM
Hi all

Maybe somebody has seen this problem before?

We have a e-smith box running on our local network. The are 2 NT domains - the e-smith box isn't a domain master!Could any other services on the NT boxes interfere/conflict with e-smith (besides samba)?

The e-smith box handles all internal mail - there is a substatial amount of mail moving through that box everyday. We have an accton 1207 card in there (previoulsy we had a 3com 3c905c). This message:
'eth0: memory squeeze deserning packet'
is showing up on the console. The server keeps hanging/crashing etc nearly everyday! When we shutdown the server it says the rlinetd service failed?
When we reboot the server starts up ok! - no problems until the next crash?

Regards
BF

Brandon, in theory nothing NT does should conflict.

Just a guess but have you tried swapping the nic/patch-cord/hub-port/cable-drop  etcetera in case it is hardware related?

Does sound like a hardware problem with the NIC.  I had similar errors when using a cheap NIC, under load it began having problems.  Replaced it with a quality Intel and no more problems.  NIC cards can be buggy.
