Title: Virtual Domains
Post by: Eric Womack on March 01, 2001, 06:03:52 AM
My subdomain problem has been settled (see subject Subdomains authored by me) and my virtual domains has gotten better, but...

When browsing from the outside, a user gets the "this i-bay has not yet been customized" page.  From the inside, a user gets a small page that is a place holder.  The kicker is, I deleted the defualt "this i-bay has not yet been customized" page!  Both should get the place holder page.  I could almost understand more if the outside user got nothing.  What else should I delete/set?

For some background info:

Stock 4.1.1 install
Static IP
2 FQD's
2 Virtual Domains (one a sub which works perfectly, one a seperate domain)
Page has been saved to the HTML directory as both index.html AND index.htm (neither worked from the outside) and default page deleted.

It sounds like you have the page saved in th cache from the outside machine.

Thats very close to what it turned out to be.  Due to an internal miscomunication, it was routed to another external box that had the same VD setup on it.  So from the interal network (using the primary e-smith box for DNS) it would show the correct page while from the outside world (using public DNS servers) it would go to the seperate box.

Thanks for the input,

Eric
