i updated the ip manually ...worked fine ...
i changed my e-smith (4.1.1) configuration to use dyndns.org service and entered my correct (yes, correct) username + password ....... -- it won't update my ip --
any help would be much appreciated

I know I responded to one message about dyndns.org recently over there, but I don't remember if it was yours. You need to determine what's happening in the script, which will be logged in /var/log/messages. Do 'grep dyndns.org /var/log/messages' to get the output from the script, and post the results here.

hi there,
thx for the help.
i did what you said and the message said : Dyndns.org : avalon-castle.net is not a Fully Qualified Domain Name !
hmm, of course i had entered a different Domain for my e-smith-server than i signed up for at Dyndns.org !
So i changed my"local" domain of the e-smith to exactly the dyndns.org-domain (avalon-castle.dyndns.org) and ...it works !!!
thx for that easy help .....

I have in the past the same problem. I edit '/sbin/e-smith/dynamic-dns/dyndns.org':
DOMAIN='Domainname by dynDNS.org and not $4' and it works. I think it's the same by your server ... and sorry about my bad english ;)

If you have to edit this, it means that the domain you specified in the console setup is not the same as the domain you've registered at dyndns.org. This is not an e-smith problem; it's a problem with the way you've configured your system.
