I've gone back to 4.0 for the moment. When I installed 4.1.1 I could connect to the internet with the server but it would not provide DHCP to my LAN. If I switched the setup from normal to swapped (ethernet cards) it would provide DHCP to the LAN but not connect to the internet. (I switched the cables each time, too). I did notice that as I rebooted after each configuration the DHCPd failed to shut down. It started [ ok ] each time I rebooted the server.
Any thoughts?
Much appreciated,
Richard

Sounds like bad NIC but that doesn't explain why 4.0 works. Are both of the NICs the identical manufaturer and driver?

Silly me! Version 4.1.1 has you select your nic drivers (takes a few more brains)
and that was the problem. I got it working now. Thanks for your comments.
