This could be a good idea..
I have several machines connected and on one of them is an 'internet hog...'

Short of cutting networking cables and watching how the modem responds = I'm not sure who it is, or atleast have reportable proof..

A British firm WWW.KYZO.COM makes a Product called NIN and Gateway and it has this feature but it is a full server in 20MB size.  Somethings are nice a better than E-smith but it is not a full Linux package.

KYZO NIN the user is limited to what he can do and it produces a report of all the places he visited

To do that, force your users to use the cache (squid), then setup squid
to allow or deny destinations. For getting reports/ analyze the squid
log files you can use "Calamaris" which is just a perlscript. you
can get it here:

I installed Calamaris ver. 2.4.  But no instructions available on  its use.  And their site does not have any information.
