Title: Turning off 128-bit VPN
Post by: David Bakody on March 21, 2001, 08:00:10 AM
Yes, I know.  It's probably a bad idea, but...

Is there a config for adjusting the encryption level of VPN on the e-smith box?  Actually, I want to turn encryption off.  Yup.  Off.

I know a contrib VPN add-on for e-smith 4.0 is available that lacks encryption, but I really don't want to re-install 4.0 just to get a non-encrypt VPN.  I want to see if performance is really that different using no-encrypt vs 128-bit.  As it stands, PCAnywhere is painful through VPN, even with a cable modem.

I guess better use another VPN protocol than PPTP, it isn't able to reorder received packets when they arrive in an appropriate order, I guess.
