Ok, now I'm getting desparate! For some reason, my client PC behind my E-Smith server isn't receiving or accepting cookies for some sites, which means I can't log into them. Some of the sites are stodge.net (mine), slashdot.org, drop.org and geeklog.org.
This started about a week ago. I know that when I log into my own site (stodge.net), the login is authenticated as the CGI post command has the username and password. I've proven this by printing them to the screen when someone tries to log in (well it is my site!).
But the cookie doesn't get set - the calls to the PHP functions to set the cookies are made, but the cookies aren't created.
I don't know if my E-Smith server is somehow preventing this from happening, or if my client PC is somehow rejecting cookies. I do have three things that point to the server being at fault.
1) I can log into these sites from my PC at work, which obviously isn't behind my E-Smith server.
2) I have installed Linux on the client PC. I have used two different Linux based browsers (Konqueror and Opera), neither of which work.
3) I have installed Win98SE from scratch on the client PC, and upgraded IE to 5.5, which doesn't work. Also I've tried Mozilla which partially works - I can log in, but not out. Opera doesn't work either.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Oh my how embarassing!!! I'm going to have to get down on my knees to beg for forgiveness. I'm going to have to grovel! I really, really don't think my E-Smith server is at fault!!! Somehow (and I REALLY have no idea how) the clock in my PC is 12 years fast, so obviously some cookies won't be set! They expired 12 years ago!
I'm sorry
Mike
