Title: install a compiler (gcc)
Post by: Cory B on March 31, 2001, 12:45:02 PM
Hello,

I'm wondering if there is any way to install a compiler on e-smith. I need to do this because the tulip driver that comes with e-smith doesn't work with my linksys driver. I just need to use the files included on the driver disks to recompile a kernel module...

If anyone has a solution let me know...

Thanks,

-Cory

Sure there is; you just need to install the appropriate RPMs from the appropriate version of RedHat.  In this case, you'd want the ones from RedHat 7, and you'd need ecgs* and cpp.  For compiling most things, you'd also want make, but I don't think you'd need it to build the driver for the linksys card.
