I think things got messed up after RAV antivirus, but i'm not sure. Maybe dialin rpm has something to do with it too... anyway, I cannot send or recieve e-mail from e-smith. 4.1.1 Anyway, here is an excerpt from maillog:
pr 19 23:58:50 melanocyte smtpd[2331]: Received 725 bytes of message body from femail2.sdc1.sfba.home.com(24.0.95.82)
Apr 19 20:58:51 melanocyte smtpfwdd[2332]: forwarding to recipient david@vanblari.com
Apr 19 20:58:51 melanocyte smtpfwdd[2332]: Sendmail exited abnormally (status 28416) - message not forwarded.
Apr 19 20:59:01 melanocyte smtpfwdd[2304]: Child process (2332) failed - no retry
Apr 19 23:59:44 melanocyte smtpd[2245]: Timeout on read (more than 600 seconds) - Abandoning session
so I guess I am wondering what error 28416 is and if that has anything to do with my problem. Thanks so much for any help.

Is this a new RAV install? Have you edited the RAV config file, restarted RAV and QMail as instructed in the RAV documentation?

Darrell,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, and that is why I am kinda confused as to
qmail not working. I think I have sent and received mail after the
successful RAV installation. Could it be that RAV has expired (I have
not registered it) and
killed qmail altogether?
Thanks,

RAV eval lasts 60 days. Simply take a look yourself then. Restart RAV and review the maillog to see if it starts or errors as shown below:
[root@e-smith /root]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/ravmail restart
Shutting down ravmd: [ OK ]
Starting ravmd: [ OK ]
[root@e-smith /root]# tail /var/log/maillog

Darrell,
Well, I don't know what did it, but when I entered in the command to restart, shutting down returned "failed" but starting it back up returned "ok." I did it again, this time they were both "ok." I tried checking mail, and all seems to be good ;)
Thank you kindly ;)
