I am attempting to VPN to my home e-smith server from work. I have the cooporation of my employer( I am demonstrating e-smith for them) to make the proper changes on our NT 4.0 server with Proxy server if any. Does anyone have a few pointers. The pc I will be using has Win ME on it.

Yes, if this is simply for a demo, place the WinME on the external side of the Proxy server with a valid external IP and bypass this issue completely for your demonstration. Alternately you will have to jump into your Proxy server configuration to support inbound/outbound PPTP from the LAN.

Thanks, I sure don't want to mess with MS proxy server. I placed my M.E. pc on the external side fine. However I couldn't establish a VPN connection. I checked the registry on M.E. for encrypt level and found Remote Access is set to 40 bit encryption. I thought that is would come stock with 128 bit. Oh well, that's Mother Microsoft for you. I also checked a '98 SE pc, low encryption also. So getting a bit frustrated I searched MS web site for an upgrade for either M.E. or '98. Guess what, na-da, zip. I wonder, could I adjust the encryption level on my server to accept 40 bit?
