Title: Access to ../primary/html denied
Post by: Stone Linton on April 28, 2001, 09:46:47 AM
How can I reset the permissions on my ../primary/html directory to allow access.  As it is now it is denying me access from an internal machine, haven't tried an external yet.  I was messing with the CHMOD command with out really know what I was doing.  Before I couldn't copy files via windows explorer to the html folder or create a new folder in the html folder . . . my lame excuse for messing with commands I don't understand.  I did, though, manage to allow myself to copy files to and create folders within.  Thanks for any help provided.

I believe that if you log your client on as 'admin' (internal network), you can write to, read from and create subfolders through windows explorer.  From external, you can use FTP, but you will need to connect as admin (esmith admin).  I hope this will help.

Good luck,
Mike

Yeah, that would work, but I want to be able to read and write to the folders from any internal account.

But primary concern now is to restore the permissions to original settings so that I can access the html folder for browsing.

Well this is strange. Same thing is happening with me now. I have not wrote to
my primary html directory since upgrading from 4.1.1. to 4.1.2. Tonight
I attempted to write to the /primary/html folder from my windows client and too
was denied access. I re-checked all my configs. Logged back on to my windows
client as admin and the same thing denied. I can browse and read.... but not write.

I tried also  to FTP internal and external....and write,  Same thing denied.
Yes I am logged with admin and my admin psswd from both my windows
client and ftp client.  Anyone with any ideas ???

I sure need to get there to write

Additional info... I have two folders inside of the /primary/html directory that
I can write to, but as admin can not write to the /primary/html directory itself
or create any additonal directories since upgrading... Also I have not changed
any permissions since upgrading.

I have the same problem.  After upgrading by using the patches posted on the site, I loose access to the primary html and files folder.  At first I thought I was hacked but I have several servers and I have the same problem on all after applying the patches.

I have exactly the same @!#$. If anyone has any ideas please let me know - I have kicked out 25 quid for a domain name and my mates are pretty tired of reading about XYZ company
