Title: smtp-poplock for remote users
Post by: Hasan Muhammad on May 05, 2001, 06:30:15 PM
Was about to try smtp-poplock (selective SMTP relaying based on POP authentication for qmail--http://www.davideous.com/smtp-poplock/) on e-smith-4.1.2.  (Why? It's easy to write a simple one-page instructions for remote users to setup an office mail account on their home/laptop computers when they don't need to figure-out the name/ip of their ISP's smtp server.)

However, the /var/qmail/control/rcpthosts file states ...
#
# This file is no longer used because qmail-smptd is no longer being
# used. (The obtuse smtpd program is being used instead).
#
# However, by keeping this file intact we ensure that if qmail-smtpd
# is inadvertently used, it will NOT act as an open relay.
#

Does anyone know if smtp-poplock or any other POP-before-send solution will work with e-smith-v4.1.2 ?

Thanks,

Hasan
