Help !!
Hoping someone can help. I installed the e-smith-isp-0.1-7.noarch.rpm package and can no longer access the admin web interface.
Have bookmarked the e-smith admin page and when I go there now i get the message :
"You are not authorized to view this page You might not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied. ...
HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden Internet Explorer "
Have unistalled the package but problem remains and I no longer get the login prompt".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like IE is saving the login use/pw combo - the wrong one. You could empty the explorer cache or try a different browser. You might also try bringing up the console in text mode by logging in using ssh as admin just to confirm it isn't broken.

Thanks for the pointer. Now have message "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /common/noframes on this server." through the Access e-smith-server with text mode browser via SSH while loged on as "admin".

Have you tried telling e-smith that you have performed an upgrade? If you haven't try:
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot
This, amongst other things, rebuilds a lot of the access-control files from templates. It's got me out of similar situations in the past. If it doesn't work I've got another suggestion, but try this first.

howdy;
i think you will find that isp 1.7 isn't compatable with e-smith 4.1.* it says that on the "official" isp addon page.
chris
ps i know this doesn't actually help...

correct
isp 0.22 is out and works with 4.1.x
which shold be the last we hear of this problem
to fix re-install the e-smith-base rpm
that re-overwrites all the panel files and corrects the permissions
