Title: User accounts in NT network
Post by: Scott Smith on May 22, 2001, 01:34:42 AM
Please excuse me if this has already been addressed. It sounds familiar, but I can't locate the answer.

If I place an e-smith 4.1.2 server into an NT (or 2000) network, do I have to create user accounts on the e-smith server to match those already existing in the NT network? Or does Samba pick that up? I'm thinking they must be created, and that perhaps the newest Samba (not the one in e-smith) might address this.

Am I on the right track, or am I completely derailed?

Scott

From what I understand and have experienced Samba doesn't grab a copy of the SAM database and grant permissions based on defined NT access.  Make sure E-Smith it isn't your Master Browser.

Hope this helped, NF

As Nathan pointed out, the e-smith server depends on its own user list and password database. At this stage there is no explicit support for integration into an existing NT domain.
