There's a menu option in the installer labelled "upgrade".  I wonder what that does...

Sorry if this sounds a bit snide, but this is a very basic question that would be answered by even a cursory examination of the manual..

And yes, I did it and it worked fine.

Vikram,

I upgraded from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 with all my users previous emails in their
inbox. Absolutely no problems. You can trust the UPGRADE option in E-SMITH.
I understand about your concerns, other distributions I have tried its not that
reliable.

I would be interested to know if anyone who is running multiple hard drives has successfully performed an upgrade with no loss of data. The server I am running has one drive which is installed with e-smith and a second 20 gig drive mounted on /home for all user data and files.

Of course if the behavior of the upgrade is anything like the install I would only expect to fdisk the second drive again with the same parameters and the data should still be intact (have done this before).
