Title: Modem sharing
Post by: Alec Norek on June 03, 2001, 06:40:41 PM
I have an ADSL connection to the outside world via my e-smith server/gateway, which I share with Win98 PCs.  I need to be able to dial out via a modem to satisfy a DOS program from each of PCs. Short of installing a modem in each PC (which is not that expensive), Is there any way to share it using e-smith?

Also if this is not possible for DOS mode, can it be done for windows.

I may have been a bit premature with my post here. I have found something at http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/mini/Linux-Modem-Sharing.html, which I will experiment with.

Sorry Guys, I may have to shelve this one for the time being. This time around due to time constraints, I will use cheap internal Aopen FM56-PM modems in each PC. They appear to have DOS support and are < $AU50 each. Call me chicken!
