Title: time-restriction for the internet access
Post by: kwm on June 20, 2001, 08:10:10 PM
For our vocational school we need the above mentioned solution.

We have three classrooms with internet access. If we open the router (manually) everyone has access. In the Squid-Faq document 10 there is a very simple solution, for changes you allways have to edit the config-file. Someone told me about a cgi, placed on the primary web-page. The user has to start this cgi to get access to the internet - or will be told, that access is denied.

Can anybody give me some hints?

use user authentication instead.
Tim Litwiller has written a HOWTO.  There's a link to it from the contributed HOWTO page.

the squid.conf file also lets you state how long authentication should last before users have to reauthenticate.
