Title: dns migration on e-smith?
Post by: Gwenael on June 22, 2001, 02:36:04 PM
hi all !

First question:
My company decide to migrate our DNS (redhat 6) because the server is too old.
Can I import DNS configuration files (site.xx) and import on a e-smith server (in /home/dns/var/named or create a script on /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/var/named) ?

Second question:
Can i use an another e-smith server to make a firewall only?
The standard version is a good solution or I need addons?

Thanks for your reply.

Regards,

Gwenael

Gwenael,
e-smith is a good firewall out of the box.
e-smith is a local dns only - not externally visible and running your own exteranal dns isn't recommended - do a search here to find detailed threads on this issue.
A hint - search the forums and check the howtos & reat the manual before posting here - silence usually means the issue has been delt with.
