I have a quick question.
I loaded the AWStats rpm on 4.1.2 and it is working but
in the e-smith manager it displays *Unknown for a menu option and below that an unknow entry I can select it and it says
Forbiden you don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/.awstats on this server.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also does awstats show is stats in a graffic bar ?
Thanks in advance

Have you set the permissions on the files in the cgi-bin and also check the permissions on the directories

Hi, I am experiencing the same problem - i've checked the permissions, and they all appear to be correct.. the error message I get is:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/.awstats on this server.
When I click on the "UNKNOWN" link from the manager.. Has anyone managed to get this working under E-Smith 4.1.2?
Cheers
Tom

Hi - I e-mailed the creator of the RPM, and he quickly replied with the problem - here is his e-mail:

Hi Tom,
you are using a text based browser like lynx, right? With a text browser all
hidden files and directories (starting with a dot) are diplayed as "UNKOWN"
in the navigation panel. This is an e-smith "bug". When you click "UNKWON",
you try to execute the system directory of awstats, which causes this error.
You'll find an entry "Web Statistics" under menu "Administration" below. But
bw warned, the Awstats output doesn't look very nice in lynx.
Hope that helps,
Michael

This WAS the problem - so thank-you Michael.
