Title: Can't create group "users"
Post by: Charlie Nyman on July 08, 2001, 06:48:06 PM
I'm trying to add the group users but get an error that the group already exits. I see it in the "accounts" file. Is this an e-smith protected group/name? If not, can I do something to add a group called "users"?

There are several names in use by the e-smith system that cannot be used for user, group, or ibay creation. I initialy submitted this dev-info mailing list, and the documenation was changed, but just having looked at the development PDF and online HTML, the note is no longer there. I ran into the same issue with "public". I would up just having to be more creative :)Charlie Nyman wrote:

A simple work around for this kind of thing it to prefix all your groups with "g-".  Thus you could greate a group called "g-users".

Cheers,
