Hi,
Yesterday my server suddenly crashed with a strange error (I don't know the error) and a kernel panic :(
I rebooted the server and everthing seemed fine...alsmost everthing....AWstats isn't working properly anymore :(
It (Cron Daemon) is spamming me every 15 minutes with an e-mail with the following message:
Could not open /var/log/httpd/awstats/ www.minddigger.com
I disabled awstats for half an hour and the mail messages disappeared...but when I enabled it again, they were back....then I did an uninstall and a new fresh install...now I lost all statistics and the cron daemon messages are also back again!
Whats going wrong here and what do I have to do to fix this?
TIA,
Timothée

That's strange, I got a similar sort of message. My AWstats has been going fine for a while now. Here's my message:
Died at /etc/e-smith/web/panels/manager/cgi-bin/.awstats/awstats.pl line 1489,
line 1.
Command was: /etc/e-smith/web/panels/manager/cgi-bin/.awstats/awstats.pl -h
www.lloydkeen.com < /var/log/httpd/awstats/www.lloydkeen.com > /dev/null
That was the one and only message I have received so far and I haven't checked AWstats yet to see if it's still working.

Well, that message you posted isn't something you have to be worried about. I got that message also....but this is more serious because of the servercrash.
