Title: installing rpms

This is a newbie question but i want to install some of the contributed packages on this site. i am at the command line and i have no idea what to do could anybody point me to a faq or another post about this.  i would really like to use this system but it requires that i get dns running on my e-smith.  This would really help me out thanks

You don't really want to do that. See this post for reasons:

Setting up public DNS servers is not a job for a newbie, IMO. YMMV.
